Dr. Ajit Huilgol

As must be obvious to many of you by now our contributing photographers have other aces in their decks. Dr.Ajit Huilgol is one of India's leading kidney transplant surgeons with 1700 transplants to his credit to date. He was in the team that successfully performed the first kidney transplant in the state of Karnataka in 1983 and has received a lifetime achievement award from the Federation of the Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry in 2006.

On the photographic side Dr.Ajit's accolades are no less impressive. He was granted an associateship of the Royal Photographic Society in 2008 and received a runner up award in 2009 as BBC wildlife photographer of the year in the Behaviour of Mammals category.

Dr. Ajit's interests and passions don't end here and spill over into other fascinating worlds. Like almost every Indian he is in love with India's national sport and has been a cricket commentator for All India Radio since 1972. He is an amateur hypnotist who still gives occasional shows in Bangalore and Mysore. As if this were not enough to make his personal bag of trophies brim, he has even tried his hand at movie acting and has one film to his acting credit called "Freaky Chakra".
