Dr. Sameer Rao is quite a rare species. He is a cardiothoracic surgeon by profession and an avid nature photographer at other times. Dr.Sameer has worked and lived variedly in Vellore, Coimbatore, Sydney and Bangalore, where he currently resides. His childhood years in his native Maharashtra, in the small towns of Pusad, Yavatmal and Amaravati located in the midst of abundant nature, kindled in him his first love for the wild and the natural. It was an abiding interest that took the expressive form of photography over the years.

After coming to live in Bangalore, he has spent a lot of time filming in the forests of BR Hills, Bandipur and the Kabini region of Nagarhole, besides a few places in Coorg and Mysore known for their flora and fauna. He sees his camera as a tool for study and enjoyment, through documenting aspects of nature that he encounters and is moved by. His hobby helps him perceive the interconnectedness of everything around us. It is his wish that we humans find the wisdom and the courage to preserve and protect nature and the earth as our very survival depends on respecting this bond that exists between us and all else. Click here to know more about Dr. Rao.
