Vikram Huilgol

Photographer

Vikram Huilgol hails from Bangalore and is a practicing taxation lawyer. His love for the wilds began when he accompanied his photographer father to Bandipur at the tender age of 3.

Ever since then just about every vacation has been spent in forests and jungles and most holidays, during his growing up years have been 'wildlife related', he reveals. He has traveled to almost all the well known national parks in India as well as those in Kenya and Tanzania. He discloses that it was on his first visit to Africa in 2006 that he picked up a camera for the first time and was 'truly bitten'. Wildlife photography was quite a natural progression for him and over time, as his skills and repertoire grew , he started investing in cameras and equipment for this specialized genre.

Vikram now has a Canon 7D along with a 300 mm f2.8 lens and 70-200 f2.8.

He believes that great photographs will be the natural outcome of one's dedication to wildlife, so long as photographers don't shoot with awards or accolades in mind. The focus instead should be just on capturing the character and presence of an animal in the wild.
